Aniq Rajabdeen - International Gaming Institute I was looking for work experience where I could apply and expand the knowledge that I had at the time, and that's exactly what I got at the International Gaming Institute. The knowledge and the work experience that I gained was tremendous. I'm the kind of person who is always looking to learn something new and face a challenge, so that I can use it in the long run. That was my main goal, really, to get work experience that would actually help me learn something. On a number of occasions, like within the first two weeks of class, I found myself seated and the professor put something new that we're supposed to be learning in class. He put something up in the presentation and I found myself seated in class going "cool," I know this stuff, because I've done it at work. I've helped put together the IGI course catalog. I helped work on it and develop the final catalog. I helped develop and maintain the IGI website. I did web analytics, search engine optimization, studied website activity, analyzed the metrics and made meaning of it. And I used different software on the internet for marketing campaigns, setting up marketing emails, online surveys, evaluation surveys. I used software like SPSS to analyze and make meaning of the results. I did cold calling where telemarketing is concerned. I cold called a lot of directors of big casinos as potential clients. And I also did a lot of administrative support I have to say. The greatest challenge for me was being a full time student and working full time, taking 15 credits and working 20 hours a week. So I had to really learn to prioritize myself very well. Time management - I just sat down and I always gave myself goals. I prioritized based on how important which goal was. It's helped me grow and mature as an individual. It's expanded my knowledge, and I would say that I'm confident where marketing is concerned. For someone looking to do an internship, I would say never limit yourself. If you want to do something, do it. If you try hard enough, you can always achieve something. If you've been looking for work for a month and you still haven't found anything, don't let that kill your confidence or de-motivate you. It's because you haven't looked hard enough. If you look hard enough, there's always something out there that will meet your requirements. Put as much effort as you can, just go in with that attitude where you want to learn. Keep learning. Challenege yourself a lot, as much as you can. Because it's going to help you down the road. Where, if you think in the long run this experience you're getting now is something that you're going to use in the future. So why not go all out and work really hard.
