The Intern Files Jennifer Knight Ð Elite Investigations I opened the phonebook and went through several crime investigation companies and the company I am with now was the only one that called me back. Learning the Ropes I first was doing a lot of office stuff because of course you have to lean and understand all the office does to support the investigators in the field, so I had to go through that process, learning the report format how that goes and then I was thrown out into the field. Challenge Learning the job, it's not something that a book comes with, a handbook to read, and learn how to do the job. It's just something you have to have, you have to have that quality to do this sort of job. It took a while to find it in me but I found it in me. It's very difficult to deal with traffic lights and also you have to make sure you have enough distance between you and your subject so that they're not onto you. So finding that middle ground. For a while I was getting too close where the subject was noticing. I was following them and then where I was too far back and I was losing them and trying to find the middle ground was difficult. And it just took a lot of mistakes before I learned how to do it. New Perspective I didn't know I would have the job that I have now. I didn't think I would be with this company. I've learned that I love this company and I love what I do andI wouldn't change it for anything. I was fortunate to get with this company that I love all the people I work with. I love what I do. I didn't realize I would find my niche and I didn't realize that and I did and I am extremely fortunate for it. Going Full Time! Well it was about a month into the job where he went ahead and put me on payroll. So I only worked for free for about a month and when I graduated and I came in and he just said I take it you're on board with us full time and I said yes. I had other dreams but this is where I want to be. I hope to possibly open up a company for him in another state which has already been asked of me. So, that's the big picture. That's where I will hopefully end up going is opening another firm for him in another state.
