Partnerships
Consider providing additional support to enhance the career resources, services, and programs of Career Services:
- Become a friend of Career Services and promote our Corporate Partnerships to employers you know.
- Refer potential UNLV employers to the Career Services office.
- Be a volunteer for Career Fairs.
Junior Year
Student's role:
- Research employment and organization contacts for after graduation.
- Add skills through activities and work experience.
- Attend campus events such as Career Day, Hospitality and Business Marketplace, and Interview Savvy employer panels.
- Establish a job-search plan, utilizing "Backpacks to Briefcases (PDF)" career handbook.
- UNLV CareerLink.
- Get links to helpful majors and career websites.
- Perform organization research.
- Explore personalized career counseling.
- Hone resume-writing and interviewing skills.
- Continue networking through informational interviews with professionals in their chosen fields.
Parent's Role:
- Encourage your student to become involved in leadership activities that will make him or her more marketable, such as clubs and organizations through the Student Involvement and Activities office.
- Talk with your student about career goals and plans for after graduation and about utilizing the resources in the Career Services office.
- Encourage your student to take advantage of employer networking opportunities, including career fairs and employer panels, such as Interview Savvy.
- Encourage your student to obtain career-related experience that matches his or her career goals through an internship program or job-shadowing experience posted on UNLV CareerLink.
Career Services Role:
- Assist students in assessing marketable skills that enhance their degrees.
- Host career fairs and employer panels, such as Interview Savvy.
- Offer mock interviews and resume critiques.
- Provide personalized counseling to assist in assessment of career goals.
- Assist students in choosing and applying for career-related experience.
- Maintain career-related opportunities through UNLV CareerLink.
